Tamiya The Hornet is no longer available in our selection
Tamiya The Hornet was one of the most iconic 2WD buggies of the '80s – and the big brother to the ever-popular Grasshopper. With its classic look, more powerful motor, and rear oil dampers, the Hornet made its mark on the off-road scene in 1984.
Although the model is now discontinued, we remember the Hornet as one of the most beginner-friendly DIY kits in Tamiya's history.
Product Description of Tamiya The Hornet
The Hornet! The big brother to the ever-popular Grasshopper, but with even more Go Fast Power, thanks to the powerful RS 540 motor, lightweight body, and rear oil dampers. Easy to build, easy to use, all at a very beginner-friendly price.
NOTE THAT THIS IS A KIT!
Even though the electronics have been given a free pass to the future, The Hornet still holds onto its iconic '80s appearance and just like back in 1984, today it's a fantastic DIY car for those who have never built a car before or for those who just want to take a trip back in time.
You need to assemble your Hornet yourself. It's like building Technic Lego, just follow the manual and after a few cozy evenings, you'll have an awesome ready-to-run race car.
To get it ready to run, you need radio set (with servo, battery, and charger) and ESC. Save 20% when purchased with the car!

Tips and Video from the Workshop
When we build our own Tamiya cars, we often upgrade the original plastic bushings to proper ball bearings. With ball bearings, your car rolls better, giving you both more top speed and longer runtime. It's especially a good idea if you tune your Hornet with the big RS 540 motor. For The Hornet, you will need a set of each of these - 1150 and 850.
Tuning the Hornet? Upgrade to Tamiya RS 540 Sport tuned motor for maximum top speed and wild acceleration. Do we need to say it's at your own risk?
If you're unfortunate enough to need spare parts for your Tamiya car, you'll find all part numbers at the back of your manual. Once you have the correct part number, contact us at support@morfars.dk, and we can order spare parts for you. ()
